Revisions to EMAP procedures, Standard, or other EMAP related documents will posted on this page as a "quick check" for Programs to note any changes that may affect your work towards meeting emergency management standards or seeking accreditation.

Below, please find the list of revisions:

Standards

  • The current version of the Emergency Management Standard by EMAP is dated September 2007 and is available to all interested programs.  This version is reflected in the EMAP Program Assessment Tool for subscripted programs.
  • Subscription to the EMAP Assessment Tool is $450.00 per Program.

Document Process:

  • The EMAP Commission recently approved an addition to EMAP policies related to conditional accreditation review, which is the review of a program's compliance after the completion of its conditional accreditation period. The new policy is:
  Conditional Accreditation Review

It is the policy of the EMAP Commission that conditionally accredited programs shall, upon submission of proof of compliance record forms documenting their compliance for standards at issue in the conditional period, submit their documentation for review on-site. This includes EMAP sending one or more EMAP assessors to the site to review the program's compliance documentation.

The presumption will be that on-site review will occur, with expenses for on-site review paid by the applicant program. EMAP will work with conditionally accredited programs to keep such assessor review costs to a minimum.

In cases of extreme hardship, a conditionally accredited program may petition the EMAP Commission in writing, no later than one (1) month before the end of its conditional period, for remote (electronic) review of its compliance documentation. Approval of such requests is at the discretion of the EMAP Commission. In cases where remote review is approved, all compliance materials will be shipped by the program to the EMAP office in sufficient quantity (number provided by the EMAP office) to send to assessors. Remote review of compliance documentation will require that compliance documentation stand on its on; in other words, it will not require or receive explanation or discussion between assessors and program representatives apart from that which is submitted in writing for review.
